NEW SIGNING: Lennon Connolly
We are delighted to announce the signing of Lennon Connolly on a deal until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder joins The Bully Wee as a free agent after leaving Arbroath earlier this month. Lennon began his career at Queen’s Park and made his first team debut for The Spiders aged 16 in November 2022.
Later that season he featured in the Scotland under-17 squad in the 2023 UEFA European Championship in Hungary. After a spell on loan at Bo’ness United last season, Lennon left Queen’s Park to join Arbroath in the summer. He spent the first half of this campaign gaining further experience in the Lowland League on loan at Gala Fairydean Rovers.
Lennon follows in the footsteps of his brothers Stephen and Sean who have also played for Clyde; Stephen making two appearances across the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons, whilst Sean joined him for the latter, playing in our pre-season tour of Norfolk and a friendly against Rutherglen Glencairn.
Darren Young commented:
“Lennon has a great attitude and great potential. He’s sharp, got quick feet and likes to get forward and make runs in behind, be he will also do the ugly side of the game. He can play centrally or out wide and will be a valuable player to have in the squad over the next few months.
“He’s been training with the team for a few weeks now and played in the bounce match against East Stirlingshire last week. He’s made an impression and he has an opportunity now to show what he can do and force his way into the team.”
