Evan Williams

All at the club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Bully Wee goalkeeper Evan Williams.

Evan spent time with Third Lanark before earning a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1966. He returned to Scotland three years later to sign for Celtic and played in the 1970 European Cup Final against Feyenoord in Milan.

After five years at Celtic Park he joined The Bully Wee in July 1974 and battled with Phil Cairney for the number 1 shirt at Shawfield. Evan made 27 appearances for Clyde in the 1974-75 season, our last in the top flight of Scottish football to date, before moving on in the summer.

The thoughts and condolences of all at the club are with Evan’s family and friends at this sad time.
