Festive Friends
Clyde FC and Clyde FC Community Foundation are delighted to be offering an afternoon of Christmas lunch and festive cheer, including a screening of Scotland’s 3-2 victory over world champions England at Wembley in 1967, on Thursday 19th December at the No. 18 Venue in Rutherglen.
The event is part of the SPFL Trust’s Festive Friends programme and is aimed at getting people over 50 in the community who may be at risk of isolation over the festive period together to enjoy an afternoon and a Christmas lunch together. The event starts at 12pm on Thursday 19th with lunch being served from 1pm. Following lunch the Scotland game will be screened, and the afternoon will conclude with a very special guest, Jim McCalliog, who scored the winning goal in the 3-2 win, giving a talk.
Alan White, Charity Development Manager at the Clyde FC Community Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in the Festive Friends programme this year and taking it out into the communities of Rutherglen and Cambuslang in partnership with Healthy and Happy. We know from many of our projects how important it is for people to get out of their houses and spend time with others, and that is especially true at Christmas!”
There are still spaces available so if you would like to register yourself, or nominate someone who you know, then please get in contact with us on foundation@clydefc.co.uk or call Alan White on 07842749628.
