Eight Pen New Deals

The club is pleased to announce that a number of players have committed their future to The Bully Wee ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Barry Cuddihy, Ray Grant, Darren Hynes, Brian Kinnear, Ross Lyon and Martin Rennie have all put pen to paper on new one-year deals, whilst Craig Howie has penned a two-year contract.

Lee Hamilton, who was already under contract for the new season, has also signed an extension that will keep him at Clyde until the summer of 2026.

Cuddihy, the longest serving player in the squad, will enter an eighth season with The Bully Wee. No-one has appeared more for the club over the last 30 years, and his 234 appearances to date place him in 23rd position in Clyde’s post-war appearance chart.

Fellow midfielder Ray Grant battled back from a long-term ACL injury last season and is closing in on 150 appearances as he begins his sixth season at Clyde, whilst full-back Ross Lyon also reached a century of appearances in a Bully Wee jersey in the 2023-24 season.

Goalkeeper Brian Kinnear will be looking to add to his impressive return of five clean sheets in 13 appearances since joining Clyde in February, whilst at the other end Martin Rennie returns after netting 14 goals last campaign, which saw him finish as the club’s top scorer.

The versatile Darren Hynes will embark on his second full season with the club having joined in January 2023, whilst centre-backs Craig Howie and Clyde’s Player of the Year Lee Hamilton have signed on for a further two years after forming an impressive partnership since arriving at New Douglas Park in January.

Ian McCall commented after watching the players put pen to paper:-

“I’m delighted that eight of the squad have signed on again for the new season. They are all good players and their form in the second half of the season has been up there with the best in the league. It’s really important to get a strong core of the squad in place at this stage in our preparations for the new campaign and it gives us a good base to build upon.”
