Chairman’s Statement
Last night brought about a result we were all dreading and brings a difficult season to a bitterly disappointing conclusion for us all.
This season’s results were, for much of the campaign, well below our expectations. Although all of us hoped until the dying minutes of the last match that we would retain our League One status, the board nevertheless have had to plan for the possibility that we might not. A full review of the football department has been ongoing for a number of weeks and is due to be completed and communicated in the coming days.
The passion showed by supporters last night demonstrates the desire we all have for the club to be successful. Falling short will cause all aspects of the club to come under scrutiny. Lessons will be learned on what went wrong, and what can be put right. As supporters, we will all have views on what these are. As a board, we will continue to reflect candidly, implement change where necessary, and regroup. The challenge ahead of us is both to return to League One and to do so equipped with an infrastructure that enables us to be truly competitive at the next time of asking.
