Tom Elliott Moves On
It is perhaps fitting that as the transfer window closes, The Clyde FC Community Foundation says its farewells to Tom Elliott as he joins Galaxy Foundation at Little Kerse, said “to be moving for an undisclosed fee”.
We will miss Tom, he contributed greatly to the success of the charity during his time at the Foundation. Arriving as an experienced community coach Tom brought all his knowledge and skills to the Foundation, developing a series of community programmes and sports activities for all ages. Tom was accompanied for a number of years by his wife Karen at the heart of the Foundation and they were certainly a dynamic duo who injected vibrancy into everything they did. Karen’s strictly ballroom success in a charity fundraiser with Raymond Grant perhaps didn’t get the media coverage it merited!
From gala days, school visits and education programmes to the creation of initiatives such as Get Onside which was truly pioneering in encouraging positive mental health and wellbeing for individuals. It is a tribute to the quality of work that many of the activities delivered over the years have now been replicated by other clubs throughout the country. Tom finished off this week having delivered our most successful summer camps to date and supporting his much loved Clyde United as they played their Championship fixtures at the home of Pollok United.
Tom remains a well kent face throughout Scottish football, there was barely a club visited who didn’t know of him or his work. Tom has quietly admitted that he was the only player Ronnie MacDonald didn’t bring to The Bully Wee from Maryhill! However although he was never given the opportunity to make his mark on the pitch, his hard work has certainly left his mark with the Foundation and the club. We wish Tom and Karen every success and good health for the future and thank both for the positive difference they have made to the Bully Wee and all the people they worked alongside.
