PREVIEW: Clyde v Peterhead

Clyde play our first home league game at New Douglas Park as we face familiar opponents Peterhead in cinch League 1.

The Bully Wee will be looking to build on the 4-1 win against Queen of the South last week, which saw us go top of the table, while the visitors will be looking to pick up their first goals and points of the season following their 2-0 defeat to Airdrie last weekend.

Danny Lennon will have mostly the same squad of players to choose from that beat Queen of the South. New signing Erik Sula will be available for selection after joining the club, whereas Steven Thicot awaits his work permit and Cammy Ross has departed the club after joining last month on amateur terms.

The Clyde manager spoke to the official website ahead of the cinch League 1 clash:

“Last week we kicked off our league campaign in style with a 4-1 win away to Queen of the South. It was the best opening day performance and result by a Clyde team in a league campaign since a 5-0 home win over Dumbarton in 1987. That season, the Bully Wee retained their place in the second tier with a ninth place finish and were the second highest scorers in the league that season.

What will be the story of this season? We have worked hard to identify hungry players to bring into the club and play a brand of football we think can take us to a higher league finish than the past three seasons. All our players have worked hard to bring their best and learn to play how we want them to play. Working hard pays off. We have shown what we are capable of and passed our first test. We need to work even harder now to pass today’s test.

We welcome Jim McInally and his Peterhead staff to our new home to play for the prize of three Scottish League One points. Please give your team as much positive encouragement as you can and enjoy the match.”
