PREVIEW: Clyde v Kelty Hearts
It’s a second home game in a row for Clyde in cinch League 1 as we take on newly promoted Kelty Hearts at New Douglas Park, in what will be the first ever meeting between the sides. Kelty haven’t had the best of starts to life in the league after losing both of their opening games to FC Edinburgh and Alloa Athletic.
Danny Lennon will continue to be without Steven Thicot as his wait for a work permit goes on, while Jordan Allan will miss this game through suspension and Conner Duthie through injury. Defender Aidan Cassidy has also joined Lowland League side Gala Fairydean Rovers on loan.
The Clyde manager spoke to the official website ahead of the game:-
“Kelty have done terrifically well the last few years, and find themselves a step closer to where their long term ambitions lie. They have a new manager who I know well, as John was a terrific player and captain for me at St Mirren and he will be trying to get a Kelty side who have quality, up to the Championship. It can take time for teams to adapt after coming up and I’m aware that they do have a good squad there.
“It’s been a positive start to our own campaign and we need to continue to build on that We took a lot of confidence from our opening game going into last week which we showed for long periods of the game going into a 2-0 lead but we can’t let those levels drop. Small errors cost us the three points and that’s how competitive this league is. Lessons need to be learned quickly from that, but we’ll also continue to build on the positives we showed in our first two games.
“The fans support continues to be vital. There was a positive atmosphere last week which was exciting and the fans feel welcome at New Douglas Park. There’s a good feel factor at this moment in time but we know that football season’s can be a rollercoaster. Our fans have had a massive part to play in our positive start to the season, even when it went to 2-2 last week. We feel very humble and honoured to play and work for the supporters of this club.
