PREVIEW: Clyde v Montrose
Clyde are back in cinch League 1 at Broadwood this weekend as we welcome Montrose.
Squad News:
Paul Kennedy edges closer to returning to fitness, but will continue to miss out for this match. Goalkeeper Joshua Bradley-Hurst has picked up an injury in training so won’t be in the squad, so Gary Maley has rejoined the club on loan from Livingston and will go into the squad for tomorrow.
Past Meetings:
Both meetings at Links Park this season have ended in draws, with Clyde staging a late comeback to draw 2-2 in the first match between the teams this season and the points being shared in the latest encounter with the match finishing 1-1. The last match at Broadwood was incredibly disappointing for the Bully Wee with the Hable Endies picking up a 5-0 win back in October.
Manager’s Comments:
Danny Lennon spoke to the official website ahead of the game:
“We’re still in a good position in the league going into the last few games, but we can’t hide the fact that the last 2 weeks have been incredibly disappointing such as the lack of chances that we have had. Las week was well below the standards we expect in terms of ball retention and our bravery to make things happen.
“We have to remember what our identity is, and that’s getting the ball down and trying to play. We’re a lot better when we do that than when we go direct, we have to be creative. Usually when things weren’t going well for us, we still had David up top who could turn something ordinary into something special. We don’t have that at this minute in time.
“Our message has been clear to the players, they need to work hard and be brave on the ball. I’ll never deny their efforts, but sometimes it’s not done collectively and we play our best football when we play as a unit. There’s a lot of hungry teams below us in the table who have nothing to lose apart from pulling something out the bag, so we need to make sure we look after ourselves.
“We look forward to the challenge, we’ve usually had tight games against Montrose but as they have proven already this season they will punish you if you don’t bring your best. We certainly are looking to bounce back with a positive performance and result.”
