PREVIEW: Clyde v Kilmarnock
Clyde welcome cinch Championship side Kilmarnock to Broadwood in the Premier Sports Cup group stage.
After a 1-0 win against Stranraer midweek, Clyde currently sit on 3 points in the group, whereas Kilmarnock were awarded a 3-0 loss in their match against East Kilbride for fielding an ineligible player.
Danny Lennon expects to have the same squad available that faced Stranraer.
The Clyde manager spoke to the official website ahead of the game:-
We’re honest enough to say we weren’t at our best with the ball on Tuesday evening, but there were other aspects of the game we were very pleased with. It’s early days, it’s a new group and we’ll continue to work hard to iron these problems out. We still managed to win the game and that was the kind of game I feel we would have lost last year.
“Sometimes it’s not just about what you’ve done, it’s about what the opposition has done and I thought Stranraer were good without the ball. We have good quality players and it’s all about how we bounce back. I’m looking forward to seeing how we react against Kilmarnock.
“Kilmarnock will be favourites for the game, there’s no denying the magnitude of the difference in the playing budget and full time football. This is what we want to challenge ourselves against. Kilmarnock will be hungry to return to the Premiership, but they’ve had a big turnaround themselves and as we know it can take a bit of time to gel.
“They will be hungry for the points after the disappointment of the mistake last week and will be looking to make amends, we need to make sure we’re ready for these challenges. The biggest thing for me is we get the reaction without the ball that we’re after.”
