NEW SIGNING: Jonathan Page
The club is pleased to announce the signing of experienced central defender Jonathan Page.
The 31-year-old began his career with Motherwell and spent over four years at Fir Park, before moving on to Hamilton Academical. The centre-back then went on to have spells with Greenock Morton, Dunfermline Athletic, East Fife and Airdrieonians.
Page, who has spent the last two seasons with Brechin City, has penned a one-year contract and is closing in on 300 career appearances.
Danny Lennon said:-
“Jonathan ticks all the key boxes for what we are looking for in a centre half to take the club forward. At 31, and with almost 300 first team appearances, he has great experience. He has played a few seasons at Premiership and Championship level, but perhaps more importantly for us, has played the lions share of his career at League One level.
“He is another ball playing centre half, always looking to get on the ball and contribute positively. He also attacks the ball well and with over 30 goals and assists in his career, is a significant presence in both boxes.
“Due to matters outside football he had a season below his usual high standards just a couple of years ago, which can easily happen in part time football. He has been firing on all cylinders in training, answering all our questions positively on the training pitch and meeting the criteria we have been looking for. We are excited to have his abilities and experience in defence for the season ahead.
