NEW SIGNING: Aaron Splaine
The club is pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Aaron Splaine on a one-year deal.
Splaine began his career with Kilmarnock and made nine appearances for the Rugby Park side after coming through their academy. He moved to Dunfermline Athletic in 2017 but a serious injury hampered his time there.
The 24-year-old subsequently had spells in Ireland with Derry City and Gibraltar with Europa Point and Bruno’s Magpies, before returning to Scotland and signing for Annan Athletic last season.
Danny Lennon said:-
“Aaron had a promising start to his career, following manager Allan Johnston from Queen of the South to Kilmarnock and later to Dunfermline. His great technical ability and strength on the ball propelled him to making his professional debut in the Scottish Premiership as a teenager. A leg break at Dunfermline, however, put a pause on his career progression.
“We had glowing reports on him from a few people and brought him in for pre-season to take a closer look at him. His range of passing and movement to get on the ball is notable. He is the type of player that makes positive things happen and he will suit our style of play perfectly. I’m very excited to have him at Clyde, as he brings a lot of key qualities.”
In other squad news, it can be confirmed that goalkeeper Michael McGee has left Clyde following the expiry of his contract. Everyone at the club wishes him well for the future.
The list of players currently contracted for the 2021-22 campaign is: Conrad Balatoni, Aidan Cassidy, Barry Cuddihy, Ross Cunningham, Mark Docherty, Morgaro Gomis, David Goodwillie, Robert Jones, Adam Livingstone, Ally Love, Kieran McGrath, David Mitchell, Billy Mortimer, Kevin Nicoll, Jonathan Page, Harry Robinson, Scott Rumsby and Aaron Splaine.
