East Fife 1-0 Clyde

An early goal by East Fife ensured all three League 1 points stayed in Methil this evening.

Danny Lennon continued to rotate his squad, with Jamie Bain, Craig Howie, Barry Cuddihy, Mark Lamont and Josh Jack all returning to the starting XI.

The Fifers scored the only goal of the game in the 4th minute after Chris Higgins saw his effort blocked. He was first to get to the rebound and hung a cross up for Danny Denholm to nod unchallenged into the net from a yard out.

Clyde almost hit back immediately when Josh Jack got on the end of Mark Lamont’s free-kick but he sent his shot wide.

Martin McNiff then almost doubled the home side’s lead when he got a toe to a low cross from Aaron Dunsmore, but fortunately it ended up narrowly past David Mitchell’s post.

Mitchell was called into action just before half-time when Sean Brown got in behind the defence, but he was able to turn the effort behind for a corner.

Clyde had a good opportunity after the restart when Jack sent a cross into the box and found Howie; his header however went wide of the post.

Ross Cunningham then had an effort off target from the centre of the box, whilst at the other end East Fife hit the bar after a ball into the box from a free-kick.

The Bully Wee’s last chance came towards the end of the game as Howie met a corner but was unable to get much power on his header, and home ‘keeper Jordan Hart held the ball.
