PREVIEW: Falkirk v Clyde
Clyde’s Betfred Cup campaign continues tonight, with a Group E match at Falkirk.
The Bully Wee sit on three points alongside The Bairns, who started the competition with a 3-0 win awarded to them for their game against Kilmarnock, followed by a loss to Championship side Dunfermline on Friday evening.
For Clyde, Jay Henderson continues to be ruled out due to being in self-isolation.
Danny Lennon spoke to the official website ahead of the match:-
“Overall, it was a pleasing performance on Saturday. I thought playing against a physical Dumbarton team was a good test for the younger boys in the squad and I thought they handled it very, very well. I was pleased with the energy in the group and we’ll look to build upon that now.
“Every game at this stage is going to be tough. Most clubs have suffered in the same way through this pandemic, having to squeeze games in and probably having reduced squads – we’re no different. With the games coming quick and fast you have to keep in mind that the boys haven’t played a lot of football in over seven months.
“We’re itching to continue though and try and get the level of performances that we know we’re capable of. If we continue to grow and work hard, we minimise the risk of having poor performances.
“It’s great to hear that there was positive feedback from the fans watching at home on Saturday. It was strange not having them in the ground but we collectively mentioned them in the team talk. We miss them and we want them back, but we want them back safely. We certainly know they’re behind us and every single player this season is proud to pull on a Clyde jersey. They know what the standards and expectations of the Clyde supporters are and we always look to match those expectations.”
