Jack McGowan

Everyone connected with the club was saddened to learn of the death of long-time supporter Jack McGowan yesterday, aged 89.

Jack was a huge fan of The Bully Wee since the 1950s and witnessed the historic Scottish Cup wins of 1955 and 1958. He continued to follow Clyde through the Shawfield years, at temporary homes and then in the Broadwood era.

Although attending matches became more difficult in later years, Jack was at the successful promotion play-off final last year. In contacting the club, his son, John, also commented on how enthusiastically his father had enjoyed watching the 1-0 win over Partick Thistle on Saturday, via the live stream.

Jack is pictured on the homepage with his grandson at Broadwood a few years ago, on the day he was match ball sponsor.

The club’s condolences go to John and the rest of the family at this sad time.
