Ally Enjoys Amazing Feeling

Ally Love spoke to the press following Clyde’s 1-0 win over Partick Thistle in League 1 on Saturday.

Love grabbed the opening goal of the game in the 70th minute as his volley found the net and it proved to be decisive as The Bully Wee picked up the three points against the old rivals.

“I’m delighted,” Love said. “It’s a great start in the first league game and also in a derby. It’s good to get off to a flyer and get three points on the board, but also great we managed to win the first derby of the season.

“We know how much it means to the fans, the club and everybody as a whole, so there was a bit of pressure going into the game especially with it being the first game of the season and not having the fans behind us. So, overall, we’re very happy with the three points.”

The 29-year-old went on to talk about how he found playing in the closed door environment:-

“It was strange, I’m not going to lie. It’s strange not having the atmosphere and the fans behind you, but we knew as long as we set the tempo and we worked hard we’d create our own atmosphere. We knew the supporters would be watching from home and be behind us.

“The manager read out a letter from the fans before the game which really made it hit home about how much it meant to everybody.”

Ally then described how he felt about scoring the winning goal, as well as the team performance overall:-

“It’s an amazing feeling. I’ve scored a few important goals for the club so long may that continue. Overall though, I’m delighted for the club, the fans and everybody in that dressing room as I know how tough it’s been with lockdown and how hard everybody’s worked during pre-season.

“Every boy in that dressing room deserves this win as to a man they’ve been brilliant. To be honest I think 1-0 flattered them at the end. That’s no disrespect to Partick Thistle at all; they’re a good, full-time side but I think if we scored two or three towards the end nobody would have batted an eyelid.”

The forward concluded by discussing how he reckons League 1 will shape up over the course of the season:-

“Partick have got great players throughout their squad. They’ll probably be favourites for the league but we’ll go about our business and see where that takes us. We have our own expectations in the dressing room that we have discussed before the season kicked off.

“Everyone will think the full-time teams will be challenging for the league but, as we saw today, we proved we’re a match for them and we thoroughly deserved our win.”
