Danny Pleased With Progress

Danny Lennon spoke to the official website today, for an update on how the pre-season preparations were going on the pitch.

The Clyde manager revealed that he was happy with the progress being made, following a delayed start for all lower league clubs across the country:-

“The players and staff have really enjoyed pre-season so far. Everyone has worked extremely hard and we’ve been careful to get the right balance between training sessions and matches.

“I’ve got to thank the Board as well – they have worked so hard just to get us all out onto the pitch. Overall, I’m very pleased with how things have gone, in these unprecedented times.”

The Bully Wee have taken part in several closed door matches as part of the pre-season schedule, including the Broadwood Cup friendly tournament at the weekend:-

“The matches we’ve played in have been a good challenge; some more than others, but that has let us look at different aspects in different games.

“We’ve had good results but we know that we won’t always get it our own way and we’ll certainly be challenged again when the competitive action starts. We’ve been a team that has reacted well to going behind, but this is a new group now and it’s important that we have the same mentality again.”

On recruitment and new additions to the squad, Danny continued:-

“We are still looking, but it really depends on who the player is now. We know that the squad is younger overall than last season but in terms of the enthusiasm that brings, it’s a real positive, and we’ve got the right blend of experience in the group.

“The new boys are gelling well. Within our budget, we’ve made sure to make use of the loan system and those players have already showed up really well, in both matches and training. I’m really looking forward to working with all of our new additions.”

Danny concluded with an update on the health and fitness of the squad, including Kristoffer Syvertsen, who didn’t take part in the Broadwood Cup:-

“Kristoffer has had a slight niggle and we’ve taken him out as a precaution mainly. He did a light session last night and should be back in with the group tomorrow, all being well. We’ve got to remember that Kristoffer didn’t play any football for over a year, so we need to treat him carefully at the moment.

“Craig Howie took a sore one to the face at the weekend – thankfully we don’t think it is anything serious at this stage, but we’re awaiting his final test results.”
