PREVIEW: Inverness CT v Clyde
Clyde visit Inverness Caledonian Thistle for the first time since 2004 tomorrow, for a quarter-final match in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.
It’s 13 years since The Bully Wee reached the semi-final stage of the competition, providing a big incentive for all involved in the journey to the Highland capital.
The Clyde squad will continue to have a number of players ruled out through injury, but new signing Michael McMullin will be included in the squad. Luke McNiven, an 18-year-old midfielder and part of the Community Foundation’s under-21 side, will also travel with the group after being awarded amateur first team status with the club.
Danny Lennon spoke to the official website ahead of the cup tie:-
“It’s been a positive cup run for us so far; we’ve played teams from a league above us and we’ve handled the situation very well. We’re looking forward to being in the quarter-final of a cup. Any game in a cup competition can bring the best out of a team but it’s down to what you bring on the day. You need to bring your maximum and sometimes you even need that bit of luck.
“We’ve been successful against two Championship clubs already and we’ll go to Inverness tomorrow and give our all. It’s also a welcome break from the demands of the league and it gives us another opportunity to show what we can do against a club from a league above.
“I know the supporters can play a big part tomorrow and that’s always a given with the Clyde support. It’s a quarter-final and I’m sure there will be a fair number of them making the long trip up there, so I hope they all have a safe journey.”
Admission prices at Caledonian Stadium are; adults £10, concessions £5, under-12s FREE.
