PREVIEW: Arbroath v Clyde
The Bully Wee travel to Arbroath tomorrow to compete in the Fourth Round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.
It’s a first visit to Gayfield since 2017, and the team will be looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 2-0 defeat against Montrose in the league.
Kristoffer Syvertsen, John Rankin and Declan Fitzpatrick will miss the game due to injury, but David Goodwillie will return to the squad following a two match suspension.
Speaking to the official website ahead of the game, Danny Lennon said:-
“Last week I thought we were well, well off it which is very uncharacteristic from us. I’m looking forward to seeing how we bounce back this weekend from such a disappointing performance and result. We like to go and press teams but we just didn’t do that, especially in the first half.
“When you get to this stage in the cup, in a knockout game, anything can happen. You always relish playing teams in the league above. I thought we played really well in the last round against Queen of the South even though we found ourselves 2-0 down but that’s what happens when you play quality sides, they will punish you for your mistakes.
“We just need to keep preparing the way we are. Dick Campbell’s built a great squad at Arbroath, they fully deserve their place in the Championship and they’ll want to do well in the cup as well. They have some top players that we will have to be at our very best to keep at bay.
“We will make sure we give our best, as that’s what our fans do. It’s a given that every week they give their best to push us on and I hope they enjoy their day.”
Entry prices are; £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £12 for an adult + child. The tie will be played to a finish, with penalty kicks being contested if the match is even after 90 minutes.
