PREVIEW: Clyde v Motherwell Colts
Clyde will host Motherwell Colts at Broadwood tomorrow evening, in the second round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.
The Bully Wee received a bye to this stage of the competition, with the young Motherwell side setting up the tie by defeating Spartans last week in the opening round.
For Clyde, Alex Petkov is unable to feature due to the agreed terms of the loan agreement with Hearts. Kieran Duffie will also miss out after picking up an injury at Stark’s Park on Saturday, with Kristoffer Syvertsen continuing his recovery from a knee injury.
Speaking to the official website this evening, and following the 5-2 defeat to Raith Rovers, Danny Lennon said:-
“You never like losing, but to lose five goals is always a sore one. However, we’re a work in progress at this level and we will learn a lot from it. I want the squad to continue to play with belief and a freedom, but first and foremost we need to be a very well organised team, which is something I pride myself on.
“We’re going to have a quick learning curve, but the players have already proved that they are a good team and we’ll keep working hard to get to the required level.
“We’re treating the Tunnock’s competition seriously and I watched Motherwell Colts last week against Spartans. They are a good, energetic side and the match is not going to be easy.
“We’ll take the opportunity to give a few players much-needed minutes on the pitch and, throughout the season, I expect all of the squad to be ready to step up and take that chance when it arrives.”
