Clyde 3-0 Edinburgh City (agg 4-0)

The Bully Wee advanced to the Final of the Ladbrokes League 1 Playoff after a comfortable victory over Edinburgh City at Broadwood this afternoon.

Danny Lennon made no changes to the side which won at Ainslie Park on Tuesday evening.

Clyde opened the scoring in the 14th minute after Ally Love released David Goodwillie down the left flank. He skipped past Craig Thomson and Conrad Balatoni on his way to the by-line, before cutting the ball back from Kristoffer Syvertsen to prod home from close range.

The Norwegian forward came close to doubling his tally but his shot heading for target was blocked, and then Goodwillie saw his volley saved by Callum Antell.

Syvertsen then hit the post from another attempt, and Mark Lamont’s shot on the rebound was diverted behind by a Citizens defender.

Goodwillie had a golden opportunity just before the interval when he found himself one-on-one with Antell, but after taking a good first touch, and pulled his shot wide of target.

He redeemed himself three minutes after the interval however, when he set up yet another goal. He drove forward to the edge of the area and played in Ally Love, who coolly slotted beyond Antell.

The game was put to bed ten minutes later when Goodwillie rose highest in the box and headed home Lamont’s free-kick.

The Bully Wee continued to dominate the game and Jack Boyle was unlucky not to get in on the act, after a nice turn and run from the halfway line, but he dragged his shot wide of the goal.

Scott Banks had a further chance to increase the lead in the closing stages, but his effort was too high.
