Annan Athletic 1-0 Clyde
The Bully Wee will need to come from behind in the second leg of the Ladbrokes League 1 Playoff Final, after Annan Athletic registered a 1-0 victory at Galabank this evening.
Danny Lennon made one change to the side that saw off Edinburgh City, with Kevin Nicoll replacing Mark Lamont.
Blair Currie was tested twice in the opening stages through David Wilson’s free-kick and a header from Christian Nade, but caught the ball on both occasions.
Clyde were then given a chance to open the scoring in the tenth minute when Ally Love was upended in the box, but David Goodwillie dragged the penalty wide of the post.
The hosts struck first midway through the half when a free-kick into the centre of the box fell to Chris Johnston, and he had time to slot the ball beneath Blair Currie.
Goodwillie had a chance just before the break when he was able to turn in the box and get a shot away, but the ball was turned behind by Alex Mitchell.
The striker had another opportunity in the second half but saw his goalbound shot cleared by Steven Swinglehurst.
At the other end Tom Lang made an important block on the line to prevent Annan from doubling their advantage.
It turned out to be a frustrating night for Goodwillie as he found himself through on goal late on but was unable to control the ball and the chance was lost.
