Rankin Suffers Broken Ankle

The club can confirm that John Rankin suffered a broken ankle during yesterday’s match against Queen’s Park and will miss the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

The midfielder went down near the end of the first half following an innocuous coming together and was in obvious pain, before being stretchered off the pitch.

John has undergone a successful operation today and will now begin his recovery.

Danny Lennon said:-

“We know how concerned everyone is about John, but I spoke to him this evening and he was in good spirits. The operation went very well which is great news and we’ll support him however we can.

“We feel for him, especially to be missing the finale of a season that he has made such a huge contribution to. Any team would miss a player of his quality and experience, but we know that we have great quality and depth in our squad and we’ll call upon that.

“It would be fitting for the boys to finish with a win on Saturday for John.”
