PREVIEW: Albion Rovers v Clyde
The Bully Wee will make the short journey to Coatbridge tomorrow, to take on Albion Rovers in Ladbrokes League 2.
It’s a match that has significance at both ends of the table. The Wee Rovers have enjoyed a fine run of form in recent weeks and moved off bottom place on Tuesday night, thanks to a 1-0 win over Cowdenbeath.
For Clyde, Jordan Stewart is ruled out with a foot injury. Club captain Kevin Nicoll will also miss out, but the midfielder is nearing a return following a broken collarbone, as Danny Lennon explained when he spoke to the official website:-
“I’m really pleased that Kevin has been back in training with the group this week. Tomorrow is probably a bit too early for him, but even having him in amongst us at training is so important. He’s been invaluable around the place while he’s been out; a true captain and just what you would want and expect.”
Looking ahead to the match, Danny continued:-
“We’ve watched Albion recently and they are certainly improved, especially from middle to front. In Declan Byrne they have someone who is riding on confidence and scoring goals. We know a lot about them and you always have to appreciate what the opposition brings, but it’s about bringing our strengths to the game and concentrating on what we do.
“We’ve got to keep ourselves in a position where we are ready to pounce if the top two teams drop points. We just want to win every game now and see where that takes us – the next six weeks will tell us that. It’s been a great standard at the top of the league and great credit goes to Peterhead and Edinburgh City.
“I’ll say again, what a great togetherness we have in the dressing room. They bring the best out of each other and support one another to the max. I saw some great examples of that again last week at the Annan match and it shows the type of men we have in the squad.”
