Summer Camp Volunteers: Jon and Matthew
As part of its commitment to the Year of the Young People, the Clyde Community Foundation was delighted to welcome Jon and Matthew to the second week of Summer Camps that are being delivered at Stepps Primary School.
Jon and Matthew have been a valuable asset to the camps. Community Development Manager, Tom Elliott has been pleased to have the boys on board and is looking forward to them joining the Foundation on a more permanent volunteering basis.
“I would like to thank Jon and Matthew for their hard work and effort throughout the week,” Tom said. “They have gained fantastic experience working with players like Raymond Grant and Sam Kerr, along with our community coaches. This will stand them in good stead for the future. We are looking forward to continuing to work with local young people who are keen in carving out a career in the sports industry.
“Volunteering is a commitment of time and energy. It has allowed both Jon and Matthew to try something new, gain experience, develop skills while building confidence and meet new people. We are sure that they have enjoyed the challenge that volunteering brings, while making them feel part of something outside their family and circle of friends.
“It’s also key to personal development for those thinking about a career in the area they are volunteering in.”
Jon said: “I’ve had a great time. It’s been a new experience and l’ve met many new people.”
Matthew added: “It’s been a great experience, as it has taught me many new skills. Everyone is so friendly.”
The week-long camps are now at the halfway stage, with two weeks to go! To book a place online, visit the Community Bookings section of the website or arrive directly at Stepps Primary to complete a registration with the team there.
