PREVIEW: Clyde v Elgin City
Midweek football returns to Broadwood tonight for the first time in 2018, as Elgin City visit Cumbernauld in Ladbrokes League 2.
The Black and Whites are in good form and just outside the play-off positions, with The Bully Wee hoping to close the gap to the Highland club.
The Clyde squad is expected to be similar to Saturday’s match at Stenhousemuir and, speaking to the official website, Danny Lennon was keen to build on the positives from the weekend victory:-
“Given the amount of changes we made on Saturday, I thought the boys did incredibly well. I’ve got to give Stenhousemuir credit as well for the way they were positive with their changes in the second half. We know that we needed to defend better with the ball after getting two and three goals ahead, but for long periods of the game we were very good and the players that came in have done themselves no harm at all.
“I know there are things we still need to work on but I would rather focus on the positives. It was a new back four and we were only able to have one full training session last week due to the weather. We created a number of chances again and Blair made a couple of fantastic saves. We had great energy all over the pitch.
“Once again I thought the fans were brilliant on Saturday and we had a very good away support both in the shed and in the stand. The players really feed off that.
“Elgin are closer to those final places than we are at the moment and they will come with confidence, after a win and clean sheet on Saturday. We know that they have players who can hurt you in the final third and good quality all round from guys like JP McGovern.”
