Under-20s: Airdrie 4-0 Clyde
Clyde under-20s suffered a disapointing defeat in the SPFL Development League West on Monday night as they lost 4-0 away to Airdrie at the Excelsior Stadium.
The first goal came 15 minutes into the game. Clyde gave the ball away from a throw in which saw Airdrie quickly switch to allow the striker to run through a gap in the defence and get a shot away, which goalkeeper Matthew Craig managed to save, but he couldn’t keep out the second effort. Clyde failed to create much going forward before half-time and went into the break a goal down.
The second half saw a reshuffle for Clyde at the back, and it started the way the first half ended with Airdrie enjoying all of the play and creating more chances. The home side’s second goal came when a wide player cut inside onto his right foot and smashed the ball into the middle of the goal.
Clyde then started to try to get the ball into Steve Kipre more and started to play a bit better, but still struggled to create any real chances.
Due to injuries, The Bully Wee had to play the last part of the game with ten men. Airdrie took advantage of that to add another goal when the winger saw another opportunity to cut inside and curl into the far corner. Poor decision making from Clyde outside the box led to the ball being given away and Airdrie took advantage and added a fourth before the final whistle.
