Tom McCorkindale
The club was saddened to learn of the death of Tom McCorkindale yesterday, following a short illness.
Tom, a retired firefighter, was a lifelong supporter of the club and rarely missed a match, home or away. He was a well known and very popular figure amongst the Clyde support, not least within the Castlemilk Branch of which he was a long-standing member.
He attended his first match in 1943 and saw The Bully Wee lift the Scottish Cup twice, in 1955 and 1958. Aside from those famous occasions, Tom recently noted the Cup match at Motherwell in 1983, which Clyde won 4-3, as his most memorable.
In recent years, Tom served on the board of the Supporters’ Trust from 2003 to 2007 and that led to him being an integral part of the Clyde Lottery team thereafter, assisting with draws and selling tickets locally in Bishopbriggs, in Bridgeton and on matchdays.
In 2016, Tom was the recipient of a Clyde FC Supporter Recognition Award, which he was honoured and proud to receive.
The club’s thoughts are with Tom’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Details of funeral arrangements will be posted when they are confirmed.
