Clyde 0-0 Montrose
Danny Lennon’s first Ladbrokes League 2 match at Broadwood ended in a stalemate, as the Bully Wee earned a point against table toppers Montrose.
Max Wright partnered David Goodwillie up front in place of Smart Osadolor, the only change from the side which drew at Galabank last Saturday.
Clyde were quick out the traps and had a chance to take the lead inside the opening minute. Darren Ramsay’s free-kick found Martin McNiff (pictured) in space in the box, but he couldn’t connect properly with the ball, and his tame shot was easily held by Allan Fleming.
Both sides then tried their luck with free-kicks; Iain Campbell’s strike from distance went just over the crossbar, whilst Darren Ramsay’s low drive on target was again held by Fleming.
The Bully Wee were starting to dominate as the first half wore on and Max Wright was next to try his luck, but he couldn’t put the finishing touches to a good passing move.
There was little in the way of clear-cut chances in the second half, despite Danny Lennon bringing on David Gormley and Smart Osadolor, and changing formation to play with three strikers.
The Bully Wee almost broke the deadlock in the 80th minute when Andy Munro rose highest to meet another Ramsay free-kick, but his powerful header ended up just past the post.
Montrose applied some late pressure and a penalty box stramash ensued after Clyde failed to clear their lines, though the visitors were unable to get a shot away, and for the second Saturday in succession, the Bully Wee recorded a goalless draw.
