Under-20s: Queen’s Park 2-0 Clyde
The Bully Wee’s under-20 side visited Lesser Hampden on Wednesday night, for a Development League West match against Queen’s Park.
The Spiders recorded a 2-0 win, with both goals coming in the first half.
The first half saw Queen’s Park have majority of the play, but Clyde did have one good chance when a shot was palmed away by the home ‘keeper and the rebound just missed both Aaron Millar and Ronan Sweeney who were arriving in the box.
After Clyde gave the ball away cheaply, Queen’s then played a long ball in behind for the striker, who outmuscled defender Jordan Brown and found the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Another mistake from Clyde helped the young Spiders double their lead before half-time, with left back Chris Martin misplacing a pass which allowed Queen’s Park to counter and make it 2-0.
The second half saw Clyde as the more dominant side, creating more chances. The best opportunity came from a cross to the back post area which found a trialist, but his header struck the post.
CLYDE: Trialist, Brown, Trialist, Wilson, Martin, Dachnowicz, Flynn, Lowdon, Sweeney, Millar, Trialist. SUBS: Trialist, Trialist, Trialist, Trialist.
Under-20 coach, Tony McNally said:-
“We are getting there, with a couple of games now played. We have a better idea about the current batch of trialists and we still have more to look at.
“Even though that’s now two defeats, I am positive about some of the play and the quality that we are starting to bring into the club at under-20 level. I’m sure, over the coming games, more positive results will start to come as we get a more settled squad with good quality, which we can build on in the coming months.”
