Under-20s: Airdrie 2-0 Clyde
The Bully Wee’s under-20 side slipped to another defeat in Development League West this week, going down 2-0 away at Airdrie last night.
The first half saw Airdrie on top, showing lots of energy and having most of the ball. The Diamonds’ first goal came from a long ball over top which defender Lewis Warnock misjudged, allowing an Airdrie striker in and slot past Clyde’s trialist ‘keeper.
Soon after that, Airdrie won a penalty after a foul by Warnock, which was then scored to make it 2-0.
The second half saw Clyde reshuffle at the back, which strengthened the team and allowed Clyde to look more of a threat going forward and create more chances. Unfortunately, these came to nothing and Airdrie finished with a clean sheet and a win.
CLYDE: Trialist, Duffie, Warnock, Trialist, Lowdon, Dachnowicz, Brown, Miller, Davidson, Sweeney, Osadolar. SUBS: Trialist, Trialist, Trialist.
Speaking to the official website following the game, coach Tony McInally said:-
“There are still trialists involved and that means we’ve not managed to create a settled squad, which is a challenge, and we haven’t had the full squad to work with in recent weeks due to injuries.
“However, once again individual mistakes have cost us, with two individual defensive mistakes costing the game. The players know we can’t keep gifting teams goals – we must start to make sure teams work for what they get against us.”
