PREVIEW: Berwick Rangers v Clyde
The 2017-18 Ladbrokes League 2 season starts tomorrow, with The Bully Wee travelling over the border to take on Berwick Rangers.
For Clyde, Darren Ramsay is suspended and Scott Ferguson (abdomen) and David Gormley (knee) will also miss out. The match has also come too soon for Jordan Lowdon, but Jim Chapman had some positive news on the full back when he spoke to the official website this evening.
“Jordan has been given the all clear to start full training now,” he said. “He’s still got a wee bit to go in terms of being ready for competitive action, but we’ll bring him in slowly but surely and he’s not far away now, which is great news.”
On the opening match of the season at Shielfield Park, the Clyde manager continued:-
“Berwick is a tough place to go and John (Coughlin) – who I know well – has recruited well over the summer. Everyone will be desperate to get a good start tomorrow, in what is going to be a very competitive league again.
“It probably won’t be until after the first quarter of matches that we start to get a picture of where we are, but we certainly don’t want to be chasing our tail and we’re aiming to start as strongly as we can.
“We’ve had an extra few days off after the Betfred Cup, so we used all day last Saturday and we’ve been working hard to improve on a few key areas that we identified in those matches.”
