PREVIEW: Ayr United v Clyde
The Bully Wee’s final match in Group E of the Betfred Cup takes place tomorrow night, with an away match at League 1 side Ayr United.
After winning two out of the first three matches, Clyde can still qualify for the knockout stages of the competition and a positive result at Somerset Park will keep that possibility alive.
Kevin Nicoll and David Goodwillie return to the squad for the tie, but Jordan Stewart (suspended) and Scott Ferguson (abdomen) continue to be ruled out. A couple of other players will also face late fitness tests.
Speaking to the official website this evening, Clyde manager Jim Chapman said:-
“We won’t be taking any unnecessary risks with anyone if they are struggling. One of the positives on Saturday was that players came into the team and did a good job so we know that we are starting to get some depth. It’s been a tough schedule over the last couple of weeks, but the squad have done well.
“The biggest thing for me at the moment is that we are competitive and getting into a winning habit. It’s another big test for us tomorrow but I want the players to keep showing the positives that they have so far and keep building towards the start of the league campaign.”
Admission prices are; adults £12, concessions £6.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
