New Structure for Under-20s

The club can confirm that it will again be entering an under-20 side into the SPFL Development League West for the 2017-18 season.

There will also be a new structure put in place for The Bully Wee’s under-20 players, with closer integration with the first team squad and management.

Clyde manager, Jim Chapman met with under-20 coach Richard Fox and the young players last week, as he explained:-

“I had a very positive meeting with Richard and the players and we went over our plans.

“The players will now be fully integrated with the first team and signed on amateur terms. We will carry them in the squad and, if they are good enough and ready, they will play. I’ll have no hesitation in giving them a chance. Otherwise, they will feature in the under-20 league or there will be opportunities to go out on a development loan.

“We will train together as a group and Richard will be part of the coaching team – we’re not big on titles and everyone will contribute to what we’re trying to do.

“It’s a great opportunity for any young player at Clyde and we’ve got a good reputation for developing players.”

Ten members of last season’s under-20 squad have been given the chance to take part in pre-season training, with a view to being retained for the new campaign.
