Breslin and Stewart Sign
The club is pleased to announce the signings of Jack Breslin and Jordan Stewart on one-year contracts.
Breslin is a 20-year-old defender and has joined from Hamilton Academical, having started his career with Celtic. Jack has regularly represented Scotland at various youth levels, most recently for the under-19 team.
Stewart, 21, also features at the back and has signed from St. Mirren. After making his debut for The Buddies in 2015 and graduating from their academy, he went on to make several first team appearances for the Paisley club.
Both men have also spent time on loan at Annan Athletic, under the management of Jim Chapman.
Speaking to the official website this evening, the Clyde manager said: “This is the start of the rebuilding process and we’re starting now to make some additions that can take us forward. They are two young players that we know, they have excellent pedigrees and I think they will be excellent additions to the squad.
“Jack’s a very intelligent player who reads the game well, but is also aggressive in his play. He’s captained Scotland at youth level which shows the qualities that he has. He’s very mature and not frightened to take on responsibility which is something that always appeals to me.
“Jordan is predominantly a left-sided defender. He spent several years at St. Mirren and played for their first team, but it didn’t work out for him recently. It’s now time for him to rebuild his career and fulfil his potential – he needs an out and out platform and he’ll get that at Clyde.
“If they work hard, there’s no reason why Jack and Jordan can’t go back into full-time football in the future and that’s part of what we want to do here. We will give players an opportunity and a pathway and if they take that chance, they will take the club forward and in turn they will be rewarded by people noticing them.”
