Further Guests Confirmed for Legends Lunch

Three more former Clyde favourites have been confirmed to attend the sold out Legends Lunch on Saturday.

The event is marking two signficant dates in Clyde’s history. The fixture against Berwick Rangers is Clyde’s 500th match at Broadwood, since the first competitive match against Hamilton Academical on the 5th February 1994. The date also marks exactly 50 years to the day since Clyde beat Stirling Albion 5-2 at Annfield, to bring the curtain down on the momentous 1966-67 season.

The club is pleased to be welcoming three men that all played a significant role in the club’s time at Broadwood so far:-

Keith Knox – first signed by John Clark in the Firhill era. Keith went on to establish himself as a firm favourite of the fans over many years at Firhill, Douglas Park and latterly Broadwood, where he played in Clyde’s very first match against Hamilton Academical in 1994. 

Stephen O’Donnell – signed by Clyde in July 2005 after the famous public trials. Stephen’s drive and skill from his midfield berth was apparent to all and, of course, he played his part in The Bully Wee’s historic defeat of Celtic in the Scottish Cup at Broadwood.

Bryn Halliwell – the player who has made more starts (103) than any other Clyde player at Broadwood. The ‘keeper joined Clyde in June 2000, just in time to make his debut in the 3-1 win over Falkirk following the club’s promotion to what’s now The Championship.

As previously announced, three members of the 1966-67 squad – John McHugh, Graham Macfarlane and Dick Staite – will also be special guests at the event.

All six ex-players will be presented to the Main Stand crowd at half-time.
