Easter Camps Conclude with Match Visit
The Clyde Community Foundation is pleased to have completed two weeks of very successful Easter Camps, over the school holiday period just ended.
Community Engagement Manager, Tom Elliott – who had previously managed similar camps at Falkirk, Morton and Hibernian – spoke after a very busy fortnight at Stepps Primary School.
“Preparation is the key,” he said. “I always like to be prepared for any weather or situation. I’ve got a few years’ experience ahead of the coaches that has been vital in putting on this superb camp at Stepps.
“We’ve had a remarkable group of kids on the camps, all very talented and some cool dudes! I’d like to congratulate them on their outstanding conduct at the camps, each and every one has been a pleasure to coach. Over the course of the two weeks we’ve had over 125 boys and girls taking part.
“We have also received some excellent feedback from the participants after speaking to them on Thursday about what they had liked, what wasn’t so popular but also things they would like to see in a holiday football course.”
Many of the participants also visited Broadwood on Saturday (pictured) to watch the action-packed League 2 fixture against Elgin City. Sean Higgins, who took part in the match as a substitute and also contributed to the camps in his role as a community coach, said:-
“I have really enjoyed the Easter Camps and had a great time coaching the kids. It’s great being able to pass on some hints and tips to encourage them. It was also good to welcome them along to the Elgin match on Saturday.”
Tom concluded: “It’s brilliant for the connection between the club and the community – and these camps are really good for the kids. Exercise is a great thing for young people. They get a lot from it and it helps to develop them steadily.”
