PREVIEW: Clyde v Cowdenbeath

The last outstanding match in Ladbrokes League 2 takes place this evening, as Cowdenbeath visit Broadwood.

Despite some snow falling in Cumbernauld last night, no pitch inspection is currently required.

The Blue Brazil currently sit in bottom place in the table, but recently appointed manager of the Fife club Gary Locke will be looking to close the gap on The Bully Wee.

For Clyde, David Gormley and Martin McNiff are suspended and the fitness of goalkeepers John Gibson and Connor Quinn will be assessed before kick-off. Under-20 ‘keeper, Mark McMillan is ready to step in if required and JP McGovern spoke highly of the young stopper today:-

“We will have a look at John and Connor tonight, but thankfully we have three ‘keepers to choose from.

“Mark did very well when he was out on loan recently and I saw him put in a very good performance for the 20s against Morton last week. We’ve got full confidence in his ability and we know that we can call on him to play if needed.”

Clyde’s joint interim manager was keen for the whole squad to build on the second half performance against Edinburgh City at the weekend. He continued:-

“The suspensions give other players the chance to come in and if they take their chance, they will stay in the team.

“We can take confidence from Saturday. Credit goes to the players for their reaction after half-time and they put in a big performance in the second half. They stood up and changed the game and that’s what we want from them.

“We can take the same into tonight and we want to go on a run now. We can gain another place with a win so we’re looking at it positively.

“It’s a big match and we’ll need the fans backing again. I really want to see togetherness at the club.”
