PREVIEW: Ayr United v Clyde

Clyde will take on Ayr United in the Fifth Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup tomorrow.

The match at Somerset Park will be the first time since 2006 that The Bully Wee have competed in this stage of the competition, with a huge prize of a Quarter-Final place on offer to both clubs.

The Clyde squad will again be without the cup tied pair of Marc McKenzie and Ryan Finnie with John Gibson also on the sidelines due to a suspension. New signing Connor Quinn is available though.

Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website this afternoon and was enthusiastic about the challenge that the match offers:-

“Ayr are two leagues above us, a Championship team with a lot of good players, so we know that they are the big favourites. We’ll give a good account of ourselves though, I’m sure of that.

“We’ve had them watched and we have a way that we want to approach the match, which we have already discussed as a group.

“Hopefully there will be a good crowd, including a good away support. The players have got to feed off that and use it positively; there’s been a really good atmosphere this week and the boys are looking forward to it.

“The pressure will be on Ayr and we’re going there to try and pull off a big shock.”

Admission prices have been agreed between the clubs as follows:-

  • Adults – £12
  • Concessions – £6

Clyde supporters will be housed in West Stand and West Enclosure, entering via turnstiles 9 and 10.

In the event of a replay being required, it will take place at Broadwood on Tuesday 14th February.
