PREVIEW: Clyde v Montrose
Clyde’s Ladbrokes League 2 campaign continues tomorrow, with a home match against Montrose.
The Gable Endies have been on a good run of form since the appointment of Stewart Petrie in early December and have only lost one match since the win over Clyde in Petrie’s first match in charge.
For The Bully Wee, new signings Marc McKenzie and Ryan Finnie go straight into the squad and they are likely to be joined by a trialist. Scott Ferguson, however, is again ruled out through injury.
No pitch inspection is currently planned following some wintry weather in Cumbernauld this week, but any change to that will be published via the usual channels tomorrow morning.
Barry Ferguson was in a determined mood ahead of the match, as he aimed to start a turnaround after a poor recent spell. He said:-
“I’ve taken our recent results to heart, but I won’t back down, I’ve never done that in the past when I’ve had a difficult time.
“The only way to get out of a situation like this is to work even harder than before – I’ve done that this week and the players have as well. The response from them has been great. We had a good chat as a group at the start of the week, we cleared a few things up and we’re ready to fight through this and get the season back on track.
“Getting a few new faces into the squad should give everyone a boost and they are here to help the players we have, because I know that they are good enough and will come back again.
“Montrose are a team that you know will always work really hard and you need to be ready to match that, but they also have good quality in their squad. The biggest thing for us though, is concentrating on what we do and getting that right.
“I can understand that our fans have been getting frustrated recently but I would only ask them to keep getting behind the boys tomorrow. We’re all hurting – staff and players – but we’re more determined than ever to turn things around.”
