Clyde 0-0 Edinburgh City
The Bully Wee failed to break down a stubborn and well-organised Edinburgh side at Broadwood today, in a Ladbrokes League 2 match that offered little in terms of entertainment.
Barry Ferguson made one change to the team following last week’s defeat at Montrose, with Scott Ferguson coming in for Darren Miller. Phil Johnston also returned from injury to take a slot on the bench.
As expected, Edinburgh came to Broadwood with a defensive gameplan and first half chances on goal were limited. Scott Ferguson’s shot from the edge of the box missed the target by a couple of yards and, at the other end, Ousman See could have taken advantage of a break of the ball in the box but he blazed the ball over the bar.
The second half continued with a similar pattern, although Clyde looked slightly more threatening. David Gormley’s volley was well hit but went straight into the arms of Andrew Stobie, before Sean Higgins made a glancing connection with Ewan McNeil’s cross and put the ball just wide.
The visitors rarely looked like scoring but Dean Cummings got on the end of a deep cross and forced John Gibson into action.
With around ten minutes left on the clock, there was a key moment in the match as Peter MacDonald put the ball into the net from what was later confirmed as an onside position, but the assistant referee raised his flagged to incorrectly disallow the goal.
