Tiffoney Joins on Loan

The club is pleased to announce that Scott Tiffoney has joined The Bully Wee on loan from Greenock Morton.

The winger, 18, has already broken into Jim Duffy’s first team at Cappielow and has featured in 14 matches so far this season – including the Betfred Cup match against Clyde in July. He also recently signed a new two-year contract with The Ton.

Barry Ferguson was delighted with the signing when he spoke to the official website after concluding the deal:-

“Scott can play anywhere up front, but I see him firstly in a wide role. He’s got a fantastic delivery and a lot of ability in general. Morton are going well at the moment which is the only reason he can’t get a regular start with them.

“He’s the type of player that excites people and gets them off their seats. I’ve spoken about bringing young players to the club before and a lot of them wouldn’t be ready for coming into our team, but Scott definitely is. His attitude was spot on when we spoke and he also came to the Elgin match on Saturday, so he knows what we are all about in terms of work-rate and application.

“He chose Clyde over a number of clubs that were interested in him, so that’s another big positive for us. It’s a loan until January initially and then we can revisit it with Morton. At the moment they are keen for him to get as much football as possible.”

The Clyde manager also mentioned the progress being made by Scott Ferguson, who recently returned to action after a cruciate knee injury and plays in a similar role to Tiffoney:-

“I said before that we couldn’t expect too much from Scott too early and we don’t want to rush him back. This signing will take a bit of the pressure off him. He needs time and we’re going to work closely with him over the next three to four weeks to get him to where he needs to be.”
