Peaso Enjoying Dual Role
Clyde striker Peter MacDonald spoke to the media after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Stirling Albion at Broadwood.
MacDonald scored a header to record his sixth goal of the season and ultimately earn The Bully Wee a draw, but he was modest about the excellent finish:-
“For those sort of chances you’ve just got to guide it and hope it goes on target. I managed to do that and fortunately enough it found the corner.”
On the match overall, ‘Peaso’ felt that his team should have come away with all three points:-
“If you look at the chances we created I think we should have won the game, but they came and played some good football and caused us some problems, especially in the first half.
“It’s tough to break teams down when you are one of the favourites to win the league – teams are going to come to Broadwood and sit in. I thought they were well organised and passed the ball well though, so I think we have to give them a bit of credit rather than just being hard on ourselves.
“We gave it everything and on another day we would have had two or three goals.”
After joining Clyde from Greenock Morton in the summer, Peter has been an important part of the first team squad in more ways than one and he was enthusiastic about his time at the club so far:-
“I’m loving it. I’m 36 in November so it’s not getting any easier, especially with one leg! I’m really enjoying it and the gaffer has made me a player-coach as well, which I’m also enjoying.
“At the end of my career I want to become a first team coach or manager and work with senior players. I’ve been coaching in the Academy at Rangers since February which is great, but ideally when the time is right I want to step up and work with first team players.
“In terms of playing I’m here until I’m not needed, basically, but I’d love to be part of getting the club as high as we can. I’m enjoying it and it’s a good club.”
