Scott Steps It Up

Following Saturday’s 2-0 win for The Bully Wee over East Fife at Broadwood, Scott Ferguson spoke to the media.

The Clyde winger contributed heavily to the result with two excellent goals and the press were quick to ask him if the second of those was the best he’d scored in his career to date:-

“I don’t think I have scored a better goal,” he replied. “It was good to get on the scoresheet but I’m just delighted that we got the win, that’s the main thing. We have our team night out so we can enjoy that now!

“It was a tough few weeks not having any games. The manager had the balls away and had us doing some extra fitness work to get us ready. It was tough coming back but that helped us.”

The 20-year-old was given a warm reception when he left the field in the last minute and he admitted that the support was a boost to his confidence:-

“It was nice to get applause from the stand and it felt amazing to look up and see everyone cheering me on. It’s a team game though and it was nice to get the win for the fans.

“It keeps us up there at the top and we still have a game in hand. We’ve got some big games coming up.”

Scott finished by talking about his recent return to the starting line-up and run of good form:-

“The manager had a talk with me a few weeks ago, but I also knew myself that I was playing below how I can. I stepped it up and I’ve been going to the gym and going out running to get myself fitter. That’s helped me a lot and I feel stronger during the games.

“I want to play at as high a level as I can but, as the manager says, it’s about consistency. If I can improve on that then maybe I can step up.”
