Clyde 0-2 Arbroath
Two late goals in quick succession ended The Bully Wee’s good run of form this afternoon, as Arbroath left Broadwood with a Ladbrokes League 2 victory.
With Michael Bolochoweckyj out, Barry Ferguson brought Chris Mitchell back into the team in a re-arranged defensive system.
Clyde started the match brightly and David Marsh’s shot was pushed round the post by visiting goalkeeper, Allan Fleming.
The best chance of the first half came when Mark McLaughlin got on the end of Mitchell’s corner to send the ball towards goal, but Scott Ferguson (pictured) and Chris Smith got in each other’s way and the ball ended up going over the bar.
At the other end, Greg Rutherford managed to get a sight of goal but shot drifted wide after beating John Gibson.
Early in the second half, Rutherford had another chance but Gibson did well to get in the way of his effort to keep the scoreline blank.
The Bully Wee were then prevented by the frame of the goal as Scott Linton’s cross was met by Marsh, but his shot came back out off the post.
After 83 minutes, Arbroath substitute Kane Hester made an immediate impact, taking advantage of some slack defending to find the top corner of the net.
Seconds later, the outcome of the match was put beyond doubt as The Red Lichties’ trialist Andy Ryan scored with a superb shot from 25 yards out.
