Clyde 0-1 Stirling Albion

Stirling Albion earned a deserved victory at Broadwood this afternoon, with Sandy Cunningham’s first half goal proving to be decisive in the Ladbrokes League 2 match.

With Michael Bolochoweckyj unavailable, Barry Ferguson named the same starting line-up that faced Elgin City in the club’s last match a fortnight ago.

The visitors set the scene by creating the first clear-cut chance of the match, but John Gibson did well to block Mark Lamont’s effort.

After 20 minutes, Stirling got the crucial goal when, after a neat move, Sandy Cunningham collected the ball in the box and found the bottom corner of the net.

Steven Brisbane, who replaced the injured Scott Linton, came closest for Clyde before the break but his deflected shot went wide of the post.

As The Bully Wee struggled to find any tempo in the second half, The Binos could have added to the scoreline but David Verlaque’s volley missed the target from close range.

With time running out, Craig Comrie was shown a red card for a second bookable offence before Gibson pulled off another good save to deny Steven Doris.

The closest Clyde came to equalising was through Mark McLaughlin’s glancing header, but the ball drifted wide and Stirling held on to secure the win.
