New Signing: John Gibson
Barry Ferguson has made his eighth signing of the summer so far, with goalkeeper John Gibson joining Clyde from Alloa Athletic.
Gibson, 26, had spells with both Dundee clubs in the early stages of his career and gained first team experience through various loan spells during that time, with Forfar Athletic, Elgin City (three times), Sligo Rovers and Montrose.
He moved on from Dens Park last summer and joined Alloa Athletic in the Championship. During the 2014-15 season, John made 17 appearances for The Wasps and finished the campaign as first choice ‘keeper, as Alloa avoided relegation via the Play-Offs.
In 2007, John earned a Scotland Under-19 cap as he featured against Iceland in Keflavik.
Speaking to the official website, Barry said: “John’s been on my list for a while and he had a really good last third of the season with Alloa. We’ve watched him regularly in recent weeks and I’ve spoken to his previous bosses and the feedback has been very positive.
“He’s a Glasgow boy with the right mentality and we are delighted to sign another player with Championship experience.”
The current squad list for 2015-16 is; Michael Bolochoweckyj, Steven Brisbane, Archie Campbell, Scott Durie, Scott Ferguson, John Gibson, Sean Higgins, Scott Linton, Conor Lynass, David Marsh, Mark McLaughlin, Scott McLaughlin, Mark McMillan, Brian McQueen, Chris Mitchell, Hugh Murray, Billy Robb, Mark Roberts and Chris Smith.
