Eddie Mulheron

Everyone connected with Clyde FC was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of the club’s legendary full-back Eddie Mulheron this morning.

Eddie was one of the mainstays of the team between 1963 and 1972. Joining Clyde from Benburb in May 1963, Eddie made his debut in a League Cup match against Stranraer at Stair Park in August that year and, between that match and his final match for The Bully Wee against Ayr United in February 1972, he amassed a fine total of 258 appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

Eddie’s appearances included those he made as part of the 1966-67 team which was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame last year. Although he broke his leg in February 1967 – an injury that put him out of both games of the Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic – he remained an integral part of that history-making team.

The club’s condolences are with Eddie’s family and friends at this time.

There will be a minute’s silence before tomorrow’s match against Elgin City at Broadwood, in memory of Eddie.
