Clyde 1-1 East Stirlingshire

Clyde’s unbeaten run stretched to seven matches following today’s League Two match at Broadwood, but East Stirling prevented a third home win of the week by earning a draw.

With Scott McLaughlin and Scott Ferguson missing through injury after Tuesday night’s match against Annan, Barry Ferguson added Stephen O’Donnell and Brian McQueen to the starting line-up in their place.

The first chance of the match fell to The Bully Wee, as good play between Paul Slane and Brian McQueen led to the former hitting the target, but his shot was pushed away by Shire ‘keeper Richie Barnard.

The visitors took an early lead however. Following a breakaway, Ged Traynor’s clearance was blocked and Steven Brisbane stabbed the ball into the net from close range.

Clyde pressed for an equaliser before half-time and it arrived after 33 minutes. Mark McLaughlin fed the ball to Keigan Parker on the right wing and his hanging cross was headed home by McQueen (pictured).

Early in the second half, Mark Roberts did superbly to create space for himself in the box and his low shot was well saved by Barnard. Moments later, at the other end, East Stirling’s best chance of the half came when Max Wright was set up in the box, but Alan Martin reacted well to block his effort.

Slane came close to scoring for the second time in the match when his fine 30-yard strike was pushed over the bar by Barnard.

In injury time, Clyde had another good chance to claim a victory as the ball broke to Parker inside the box, but his first time shot was well blocked by Neil McCabe.
