Bully Wee Legends Reunite

The club is always pleased to be contacted by its former players and the picture below shows a reunion between four very special players in Clyde’s history.

Pictured from left to right are Eddie Mulheron, Harry Glasgow, John McHugh and Dick Staite.

The four defenders have an impressive combined total of nearly 1200 appearances for The Bully Wee and, as club historian Gordon Sydney explained, the quartet also featured together on several occasions in the 1960s:-

“From my research I believe that this exact defence played together – in front of Tommy McCulloch – in twelve of the matches during the 1966-67 season. During those dozen matches Clyde won 7, drew 3 and only lost 2; scoring 23 goals and only conceding a miserable 15!

“The last of the twelve matches was perhaps the sweetest, coming in the Scottish Cup at Cappielow against a rampant Morton side who were running away with the Second Division. Our 1-0 victory in that game, thanks to a Graham Macfarlane goal after 23 seconds, probably saw these Clyde defenders play under significant pressure for a good part of the latter 89 minutes – but they held firm.”

The picture was sent to the club by Dick, following a recent visit that he, Eddie and John paid to Harry.
